A Beautiful Barn Wedding

Jack and Laura’s wedding was held in a beautiful traditional timber-framed barn. Emphasised by fairy lights and colourful up-lighters, the high ceiling and magnificent beams were picture-perfect.

Travelling to Stowmarket

This wedding was a distance away for me but so worth the trip. I had not travelled to Stowmarket before so I enjoyed visiting the area and staying somewhere new.

I painted the couple at one end of the barn whilst their wedding guests began to gather for drinks at the other. Some people were celebrating with ice cream outside, others watched me painting the seating arrangement.

Since the early part of the day had been wet, I was glad we had previously settled on an indoor subject. It was a treat to paint the bride and groom in such a beautiful barn setting and I was pleased with how this watercolour turned out.

My Watercolour Painting at Jack and Laura’s Wedding

Guests gathering around as Jack and Laura’s watercolour painting comes together

Typically, I might include wedding guests in a wedding watercolour painting. However, the striking and unusual building demanded to feature this time instead. Those ice cream cones would have been fun additions to a different picture!

I was at the barn early enough to watch the caterers laying the tables and the DJ preparing the dance area at one end of the barn,

The Wedding Guests

A damp morning politely cleared, becoming a bright afternoon by the time everyone arrived at the barn. Slightly blustery; it was a hold-onto-your-hat occasion! Although it never became quite nice enough for the intended outdoor games to be considered, the ice cream cones went down well, regardless of the weather.

The Farm Setting

A rapid retreat to the car when it rained heavily during set up in the morning!

This beautiful wedding venue tucked away, a little off Creeting Lane, in Creeting St Peter, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP6 8QX, is a proper farm with duck pond and tractors. It was the perfect location for Jack and Laura’s beautiful barn wedding and they had made it look stunning inside.

Thank you, Jack and Laura for choosing me as your event painter. I wish you a long and very happy marriage.
